I'm interested in effective teaching strategies.
Find a goal! Motivation is the key. It could be an opportunity of meeting foreigners, play a boardgame in the target language, a skype planned conversation with a distant country, cook with a recipe to translate, stick to hobbies of learners with language exchange on this topic... Listening to "got talent" through the world with a translation and an interculturel explanation is a great incentive too. In language learning the first step is to break the "course" effect and view the immediate use of a language. Teaching Toki Pona is a great way to introduce people to learn languages (could be learned in a week, even 48 hours for a trial in London). We are currently developing a new education module on "how to learn and use a language in fews days with Toki Pona" for adult learning who are afraid of speaking and learning language. Depends too of the target language and background of learners.
