Of course, a natural place to start would be a textbook on phonology, of which there are many. A particularly popular one for traditional Generative Grammar is Kenstowicz 1994. To become familiar with a more recent approach to phonology, you might also pick up a textbook on Optimality Theory such as Kager 1999.
