I'll throw out some ideas for you:
-A phonetic analysis of i.e. snack brands vs. car brands vs. soap brands. See what the most common phonemes are for different categories of brand names.
-Get transcripts of radio or TV ads and see what words or grammatical structures are most common for each type of product.
-Pick a few seemingly nonsensical brand names, i.e. Xerox, Lidl, Pepsi, and try to figure out the provenance of the names
