The Latin word for proximity is 'propinquitas' - it is possible 'pxs' is used, where 'x' simply means a contraction between the 'p' and the 's'.

There is a medical abbreviation px which stands for 'prognosis', so pxs might be used for 'prognoses' (plural). It is also used sometimes to mean 'prophylaxis': i.e. to prevent disease.

However, the most likely answer is that pxs is the abbreviation for 'proximus', which is Latin for nearest, next, last, closest and so on.
