Accent differentiation in England and the U.S.
In Pygmalion, Higgins can distinguish various accents within a 6-mile area of London. Would this be possible in a city in the U.S.? I'm wondering if geography or class stratification created a more varied diversity of accents within a small space in England and if the same thing occurred in America. Of are our accents not quite so diverse here?
