Iowan Dialect

asked 2018-03-05 19:02:12 -0400

Hello, I am working on a narrative set on our family's Iowan farm. I am curious if there is a book out there that covers Iowan dialect, cadence, speech patterns, etc. Would you happen to know of any resource that might assist me with keeping the dialogue honest to the region.

Thank you.

Here's some starters:

I would also recommend emailing your question to linguistics professors at universities and colleges in Iowa.
