Is the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis considered part of psycholinguistics?

I've just started taking graduate classes in linguistics.

What area of linguistics addresses the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis and related issues? Is it part of psycholinguistics, or some other sub-field of linguistics?
