Does the expression 'do you catch my float?' exist?

I once heard someone use the above expression, and he meant something like 'Do you understand?' or 'Do you get me?' Is there - generally speaking - such an expression? or did he just make it up?

It could be a version of "do you catch my drift". I haven't heard "do you catch my float" though.
