What is the difference in use of presupposition and entailment?
I have recently started back at graduate school and am required to take a linguistics course. I have struggled up to this point and have been extremely confused on the difference between presupposition and entailment. For a non graded class exercise we were required to write an entailment and presupposition for various sentences. Out of my entire class nobody was able to successfully write both for the following sentence and question. Could you guys offer me an example of presupposition/entailment for the following:
John continued smoking.
