About Negative sentences
I have a question about the difference between the following negative sentences.
Huang (2003) ("The Distribution of Negative NPs and Some Typological Correlates") shows a set of examples concerning the difference of some negative sentences presented by Kayne (1996). These examples are illustrated below.
(1) a. Nobody loves me. (Benign) b. I don't love anybody. (Benign) c. I love nobody. (Suggest a different register) (Huang (2003: 274))
Though I've been trying to understand this, I haven't figured out what exactly they mean. Would anybody mind explaining what they mean?
