Is it beneficial that Gran speaks to toddler grandchild in another language?I

I am a grandmother that lives in Spain, speaking Spanish most of the time, but my mother tongue is English. My daughter's family live in the UK. My granddaughter is now 18 months old and starting to speak and understands what is being said to her. I only see them for a couple of weeks, about 4 or 5 times a year. I was wondering if it would be a good idea that I always talked to my granddaughter in Spanish. They visit often and I am thinking of the future as my granddaughter is growing up and mixing with friends here in Spain, and possibly spending more time here on holidays etc. as she gets older.

Is there any point in doing this if I am not seeing her consistently throughout the year or will it just confuse her or be a waste of time?

Thanks in anticipation of any advice>
