Hi there! I was watching a video that was shared on Facebook which shows a hilarious baby getting jealous when his parents kiss. I then noticed in the comments that someone had commented saying that it probably wasn't the kiss he was getting upset about, it was probably the 'mmm' noise the parents were making beforehand, as her four children had all been 'afraid' of this noise. There were a number of comments on this from other parents saying that their children, too, had been 'afraid' of certain speech noises, including 'mm', 'bwah' and 'shh'. Is this a genuine phenomenon? Is there a linguistic reason behind it? Thanks so much! Caroline
